RFI today @ SF city

Today I went to an RFI meeting for a IP PBX. Holy cow! Every telecom company was there, except the Small Business guys. There was 4 Avaya dealers, 5 Shoretel dealers, 2 Cisco dealers, 2 Mitel dealers and 1 Intertel dealers. Granted these are only people i knew. And there were a lot more people there than this!

Makes you wonder. Is the market that hard? You are getting every single possible telecom dealer showing up for an RFP. I dont know, seems a little strange. I was not expecting so many people.

It think if the City is looking for a great SIP or a real open standards solution we will quite attractive. If they are looking to buy a brand we will probably loose the bid.
